| March 24, 2001 Festival of Trees-Arbor Day! |
|
Arbor Day - It's finally here! Tonight at 8pm CST we begin our tree planting ceremony! Everyone who comes to plant a tree will receive the supplies needed for each tree, along with gardener garb. After trees are planted, we'll party at the Knights' Pub! At the party we'll raffle off two suits of nature-green verite armor and two nature-made ropes! Our merchants and crafters had a busy night last night making goods for customers. They made many sets of armor, scrolls, bows, and much more. In fact, some are still filling orders! Thank you to the OSS for coming to shop with us. Thank you to the crafters who were able to help, and the Knights of KFW who helped slay the trouble-makers.

A great turn out of folks joined us to collect the key ingredient in our tree planting experiment, fresh fertile dirt from healthy Trammel, on the first day of the Festival of Trees.

Let's set aside this
Thursday night from 8 central until.. to come together and remember our
friend Raven. Anyone who wishes to speak may, but it won't be anything
formal. I'll save my journal for Mosis to send to Raven's family, if he
wishes. To prevent fighting and allow faction members to come, we'll have
the memorial in Trammel. We'll meet in Trinsic, City of Honor, at the
Meeting Hall. I've also asked Dren to lock down a book in the Knight's Pub
to allow folks to share their condolences there. Hopefully he'll be able
to do that soon. If anyone knows of other guilds Raven was in or friends with, please invite them to join us tomorrow night. When: Thursday 3/8, at 8 central Where: Trinsic Meeting Hall, Trammel For transportation: Meet at 7:45 at the Knight's Pub. Sincerely, Carina |

“As
I read the new books in the Library this month, ‘Basic Gardening’ and
‘Crafty Plants,’ I started thinking an looking around at all the dead
trees and forlorn faces, and have decided to declare a day to celebrate
the trees. March 24, from
here on out, will be Arbor Day in Destiny!
We will celebrate this first one with a Festival of Trees!
Look for more info forthcoming from that”. The
Citizens stone is no longer “allied” (through war) with any other
guilds. The first trial
weekend seems to have gone well, so it will continue. Thalkos
Mystar has resigned from leadership and Destiny.
He no longer has any responsibility associated with leadership or
the town.
Several
folks went to some Trammel cities last week to give out Destiny runes,
handbooks, and invitations to visit.
There have been quite a few new recruits in the last couple of
weeks, including three from the drive last week. Nabzif
and Crystal are working on a jousting tournament.
There is a post on the Event Planner concerning rules and prizes. They do need judges and valorite ingots.
The team of Kurrgan and Sabine are the winners in the Banner Quest. They found the most ruins spots, one more than the team of Darth and Timcushio. Runebooks with all the ruin spots are now located in the Rune Library in the mage tower. Be warned – they are dangerous spots. Also, some Knights have returned to KFW after short leaves of absence.
S_B has been quiet the last few weeks. Soon there will be more activity and events to help the town to feel more comfortable with its thieves guild.
Destiny was invited to do an activity at the St. Patrick’s Day party in Trinsic. Some members of the events committee decided to do a UO-adapted telling of a version of the story of St. Pat in a skit. The narrator will tell the story and everyone else will act it out. People are needed to play orcs (must be able to hide well) and to play townsfolk. See Hyz and watch for announcements to participate!
“Thank you and Hail Citizens of Destiny.
I am from a new Town called Aequalitas.
And our town has one purpose - to provide a place where guilds can
meet and share ideas. We are
working out the details as we speak; but we have come to let you begin
thinking of a possible alliance with the city and with other guilds who,
too, will be joining the alliance. The
city will be a forum of many guilds like your own city represented here. Together we can increase the safety and learning of our
citizens. Thank you for your
time. Oh sorry.
The city is located at old TelRuid, in Fellucca.
Thank you”. He
did inform us that they do not look for an alliance via the “war”
system on guildstones. Some
of the other guilds they are talking to for alliance are KoA, Skara Brae
Rangers, and FCB, among others. Town
Council will discuss the alliance and send word to Mr. Darkthrall.
Thanks to all who attended! The next Town Meeting will be Sunday, April 1st at 8:30cst. -Carina,
Mayor of Destiny

We are! Really! As some of you may have noticed, we removed the war status from the Des stone with all guilds. The mechanics of the game have changed so that there is no longer a need to keep the ally-through-war system. There are, however, two big reasons for not keeping it. The main reason is Trammel. Not being at war, gives our citizens freedom to travel and adventure in Trammel, without having to resign upon death. We want more exposure and new blood for Destiny - that will come from Trammel. Letting our citizens go there to adventure begins to give us that exposure. The other big reason is change to looting rules. It is no longer safe to loot an orange corpse without going gray, unless you helped damage it. Those of us who don't fight in groups much haven't learned these new looting rules yet, and end up being gray and attacked without knowing it. At least with a "blue" corpse, we know what we're getting ourselves into. The only drawback to this is intra-guild sparring. There hasn't been much sparring going on in town for some time now. But, Telzarn has volunteered to show anyone who wishes to know how to spar safely with "blue" friends. Just contact him, the message board, or me. Although, I ask that the other guilds consider it, I'm not requiring other Destiny guilds to un-war. That is up to each guild. Game mechanics have changed in such a way that there really is no compelling reason to continue to ally through the warring system anymore. -Carina, Mayor of Destiny
